Sergey Igorevich

Malov Sergey Igorevich – was born on May 27, 1988 in Irkutsk in a family of doctors. After graduating from school No. 11 in 2005, he entered the medical faculty of the Irkutsk State Medical University (ISMU), graduating with honors. From 2011 to 2013, he gained practical skills in his chosen specialization in clinical residency at the Department of Infectious Diseases of ISKMU. After residency, S.I. Malov entered full-time postgraduate study in infectious diseases (2013-2016). Planned and completed a dissertation for the degree of candidate of medical sciences on the topic: "Comparative clinical and epidemiological characteristics of viral hepatitis C in the adjacent territories of Russia and Mongolia", which he successfully defended on March 31, 2017 in Moscow.
Since September 2016, Sergei Igorevich began teaching at the Department of Infectious Diseases as an assistant, since December 2019 as an associate professor, and since September 2024 as a professor. While working at the department, he completed a doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Clinical, pathogenetic and prognostic significance of biomarkers in hepatitis C and associated diseases", which he successfully defended on June 2, 2023 at the Dissertation Council of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology (Moscow).
Since August 2023, S.I. Malov has been appointed Vice-Rector for Research at Irkutsk State Medical University. He is the author of over 80 scientific publications, most of which are in journals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC), as well as cited in Scopus and Web of Science.
From 2016 to 2021, Sergei Igorevich was a co-investigator for several grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, as well as research in priority areas with the participation of research organizations and universities within the framework of the Russian-French Hubert Curien Partnership Program "Kolmogorov" (research topic: "Evolution of viral hepatitis into liver cancer"). In 2018-2020, as a young scientist carrying out promising scientific research and development in priority areas of modernization of the Russian economy, he was awarded a scholarship from the President of the Russian Federation.
Sergei Igorevich Malov is a member of the expert group of the infectious disease profile of the Department of the Central Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Health of Russia in the Siberian Federal District.
For significant contribution to the development of science and technology and the solution of socio-economic problems of the Irkutsk region in 2021, he was awarded a diploma of the Governor of the Irkutsk region. He was also awarded a diploma of the Governor of the Irkutsk region for the development of "Development of proteomic and genomic predictors of hepatocellular cancer in the outcome of chronic viral hepatitis in the Irkutsk region" in 2024.
He is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal "Bulletin of the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov. Series: Medical Sciences", a member of the National Association of Infectious Disease Specialists named after Academician V.I. Pokrovsky and a member of the Euro-Asian Society of Infectious Diseases.
Participated as a principal investigator and co-investigator in several domestic and international clinical trials of drugs against hepatitis C, B and D (II, III and IV phases).
